The officer would be assisted by the Air Raids
Precautions Sub-Committee, of which he would be ex
officio the Chairman. This Sub-Committee includes
representatives of the Naval and Military Authorities
and of the Public Works, Police, Medical and Sanitary
Departments.

The status of the Air Raids Precautionary Officer
would be analogous to that of the Commandant, Hong Kong
Volunteer Defence Corps, but for disciplinary purposes
the Air Raids Precautionary Officer would bear to the
Colonial Secretary the relationship which the Commandant,
Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, bears to the General
Officer Commanding. In matters involving liaison with
the local Naval, Military and Royal Air Force Authorities
he would at his discretion communicate with the Secretary
of the Local Defence Committee.

the Air Raids Precautionary Officer's salary appears in
the draft Estimates for 1938 as Head 27, Defence, D., Air
Raid Precautions.
